The Unvalentines Tour
What's Love Got To Do With It?
For some reason, we tend to focus on our sad feelings. Songs of woe flood the airwaves while their sunnier counterparts get hidden in the shade. It seems that listeners react stronger to sappy then happy. What happens to this sentiment on Valentine's Day? Couples are transformed into romantics and the singles are divided between those who crave love and the apathetic. Meet The UnValentines tour: a night reminding us that, when it comes to love, we’re all in the same boat. Four singers (Jamie-Sue Seal, John Latini, Andre Villoch and David Boutette) all lend their voices and tales of their own heartache to a night of entertainment.
Seal’s tour idea sprung from a writer's series she created upon moving back to Michigan from Nashville. “When the first Valentine’s Day came around I was like, 'I don’t wanna do lovey-dovey, chocolate, roses stuff like that.' I was looking for a bit of an angle,” says the singer/songwriter. She and three other vocalists headed out on the town, performing a few sad songs, but mostly funny odes to long-lost loves and errors with Eros.
“John Latini and I wrote [a song] based on the premise of a love triangle that takes place at a gun and knife show. It’s just silly redneck stuff,” Seal laughs. “It touches on dysfunction and can be a serious matter, but it’s not meant to poke fun at anyone who may have seriously suffered from one of those things.” Though the theme is heartbreak, Seal notes that the show appeals to all, in love or out. If flowers and candy won't cut it this year, give The UnValentines Tour a try. |
