The Muggs
Fantastic Bombastic
If you’ve never seen The Muggs play live, you’re missing out on something big. Fearsome twosome Danny and Tony Muggs, along with their energetic plus-one, Todd Glass, put on an epic rock show that will have you rattling the floorboards and hollering for more.
2010 has already been good to The Muggs. With weekend tours in “Chicago, Ohio and did I mention Chicago?” in the works and a tour of Spain lined up for the spring (“Como estas, bitches!”), they’re taking Detroit rock ‘n’ roll global. They’re plugging away at a third LP due out, according to Tony, “real soon … yeah right!”
And before they blast off to the great wild yonder, they’ll be obliterating the Stick at the Birthday Break. They’ve got big plans: “I think we’re gonna train a monkey to fill in on Rhodes bass for me while I check out ‘the ladies’ — hey hey!” says Tony. “Our typical show is Carl Hoff front and center. Ear-splitting guitar assaults from stage left, bombastic bass lines tiptoeing over yer chest from stage right and head trauma from center stage as Mr. Todd Glass gives you some ‘what for.’”
"Bombastic" is truly the best word to describe these guys, with a sound that fills the room. It’s big — as though the speakers only go to 11 and then stay there — and there’s no stopping them. “The Ugliest Band in the World” makes sweet, sweet music and they don’t need a pretty face to sell the idea. |
