Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria
Celebrated chef Wolfgang Puck returns to MGM Grand Detroit, the city's premier entertainment destination, with the opening of Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina, the first of two new Puck restaurants at the hotel casino. Wolfgang Puck Pizzeria & Cucina offers guests a warm and inviting atmosphere in a comfortable setting with an approachable Italian menu.

At the helm in the kitchen is Executive Chef Marc Djozlija, former chef of Wolfgang Puck Grille and a 16-year veteran of the Wolfgang Puck Fine Dining Group. The menu features Puck's famed wood-oven baked pizzas and pays tribute to Italy through pastas and specialty dishes and is complete with Italian favorites including antipasti, salads, handmade pastas, and enticing entrees featuring delectable meats and fish.

The menu highlights multiple varieties of pizza to choose from including the Margherita Pizza with mozzarella, tomato sauce and basil; Wild Mushroom Pizza with goat cheese, leeks and basil pesto and Italian Sausage Pizza with rapini and roasted garlic.

Birmingham to Grosse Pointe
Silver Pig Restaurant Group, the folks who brought your Tallulah and Bella Piatti in Birmingham, are opening a couple new spots in Grosse Pointe. Bona Fide Bakery will bake for all of the Silver Pig properties and also house a Great Lakes coffee shop and serve breakfast. We had a chance to sample the sea salt caramel buns recently and they are heavenly and addictive. The second location will be a barbeque/burger/American comfort food restaurant called Red Crown. It'll serve lunch and dinner seven days a week and brunch on the weekends. Look for both places to be open around December or January.

Go Wisconsin! In Ann Arbor
Sometimes we have the opportunity to drive to Ann Arbor for special events. A Wisconsin cheese dinner at Zingerman's Roadhouse is one such event.

From Zingerman's website: Wisconsin cheeses have an illustrious heritage of more then 160 years of quality and craftsmanship. During this long and rich history, the art and science of cheese making have been captured in time-honored traditions that produce cheese varieties of unsurpassed excellence.

Today, Wisconsin produces more then 600 varieties, types and styles of American, international-style and original cheeses that win more awards that any other state or country.

Inspired by the Death's Door passageway between Washington Isand and the Door County penninsula in Wisconsin, Death's Door Spirits is committed to working with local farmers to create truly exceptional spirits.

A Wisconsin inspired menu will be the feature of the evening, highlighting Wisconsin's award-winning cheeses paired with Death's Door cocktails featuring their own vodka, gin and whisky.
