Spin, Suck & Choke
Down and Dirty With Tera Patrick
Originally from Montana, Patrick started out modeling at the age of 13. After taking a break from modeling to attend college, by the late-1990s she made a transition and began appearing nude in softcore features. In 2000, Tera Patrick made the jump to hardcore porn when she starred in Andrew Blake’s Aroused. In 2001, Patrick won an AVN (Adult Video News) Award for Best New Starlet. But it was in 2003 when Patrick and her rock star husband, Evan Seinfeld, who you may remember as the singer/bassist from Biohazard, formed their own production company called Teravision. Teravision has produced a string of hits such as Teradise Island, Reign of Tera and Tera Tera Tera.
Patrick is extremely active in the adult film community and I’m not talking about her famed “activity” in front of the camera. She has raised money for the Free Speech Coalition, A.I.M. Healthcare and B.A.B.E., which stands for Breast Awareness Benefits Everyone.
At this year’s 2008 AVN Awards, which took place in Las Vegas this past January, Tera Patrick honorably hosted the yearly porn awards/sextravaganza. Teravision ended up nabbing two AVN Awards for Fashion Underground and Broken.
With Jenna Jameson reportedly retired (we’ll see how long that lasts), Tera Patrick might be considered the reigning queen of the porn industry and lucky for us she took a few moments to step down from her throne in San Fernando and chat with Real Detroit about getting pissed on and oral sex tips.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Montana, in a town that’s about an hour south of Alberta, Canada. I spent some of my childhood in Canada, too. When I was 13, I moved to New York to be a model.
How do you feel about the negative way the porn industry is often portrayed in the media?
Well, I feel there is a stigma attached to the porn industry. America is often sheltered when it comes to sexuality and sex, but porn is tapping into the mainstream.
What was it like hosting the 2008 AVN Awards in Vegas?
It was a big show. It was a milestone. It was the 25th anniversary of the AVN Awards so it was a big deal.
You’ve been in tons of movies. What is your favorite scene that you’ve starred in?
My first scene for Teravision. It was in a movie called Tera Tera Tera and it was with my husband. He was really nervous. I went easy on him ... no I didn’t. It was funny. Our dog kept walking into the shot.
So I take it your husband likes doing porn?
Yeah, I think so. He’s living the dream of the porn star life. Every guy has that fantasy.
How did you meet Evan?
I met Evan in 2003. I saw him on the TV show OZ and thought he was really hot. They show full frontal male nudity on that show. I like shaved heads and tattoos. I called around and ended up finding a photographer that knew him. We set it up and Evan flew out to LA to meet me and we fell in love.
So it was love at first sight?
What’s the dirtiest thing you’ve ever done in a movie?
Oh, I do a scene with my husband where he pees on me — I’m into that. He was really excited to do it. He drank a lot of water that day and kept saying, “I’m going to make it really nice for you, baby.”
I heard you like getting choked.
Yeah, I do.
I think it's something that you can trust someone else to do for you. It’s exciting.
Your first all-anal feature was Teradise Island. Anal anything freaks me out. How was it for you?
I don’t like to do it all the time — It’s really intense. Spyder (Evan Seinfeld) is really big … so sometimes it hurts.
Do you and your husband only do scenes with each other?
No, we do scenes with other people. Evan will be on set for my scenes and will direct them. When he does scenes with other girls I get to go shopping. He comes home all cute and romantic after.
You’ve been DJing a lot lately. How did you get into doing that?
I’ve always liked music. It’s always something I wanted to be involved in. I met with a lot of different DJs and that’s how I got started. I’ve been doing it for a year and I love it.
How long do you plan on being involved in the adult industry?
I’m not sure. I’ve always had one foot in the adult industry and one foot in the mainstream. My company is doing really well, so I’ll definitely be around for the next few years.
You starred in an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. What was it like being a cartoon?
It was really cool. I always thought it would be fun to be a cartoon character. I got to play myself, so it was easy. I was honored that they asked me to do it. How many people get to be a cartoon?
You are also a playable character in the Backyard Wrestling 2 video game. That rules.
I had a lot of fun working on that. I’m kind of like a ninja in it. You can fight with my character and I can pick up a board with nails in it and hit people. Sometimes I wish I could really do that.
If you weren’t doing porn, what do you think you’d be doing?
Maybe forensics. I’ve always had this weird fantasy about a coroner.
Wow. You do scenes with guys and girls, right?
Who’s your favorite to work with?
Trick question. I like it all and I pick who I want to do. I’m the luckiest girl in the world.
Are there any girls you would really love to work with?
Picking girls is hard because girls are all under contract. Some girls can’t work outside their contract.
How about a blowjob tip?
You have to use a lot of spit. Use both hands, one for the balls and one to slide up and down the shaft.
What do girls like?
I don’t even know a good one for girls. Oh, you got me stumped. Girls don’t like to play games. Be forward.
What’s your favorite position?
Doggystyle because you can get really deep and you can get your hair pulled.
So you like it rough?
What is your biggest turn on?
Confidence! You need to be confident, but not cocky.
Is it weird to have sex with other guys while your husband is watching?
I was afraid it would tear my relationship apart but, if anything, it has just brought us closer together. We are soul mates.
I get really jealous. Sometimes I get insane. Do you ever get jealous that Evan has sex with other hot porn star women?
Sometimes I get jealous, but I know he is always coming home to me. It’s just a natural way to feel.
Do you ever get any creepy fans that become too intrusive?
I actually have very respectful fans. I’m really lucky. Plus, I think people see Evan and they don’t want to get hurt.
Which direction do you see the porn industry headed in?
I see the porn industry becoming a lot more mainstream. The 2008 AVN Awards will air on Showtime in March. That’s huge for us! It’s a really cool thing. Millions of people are going to be able to watch the AVN Awards.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to break into the porn industry?
To always treat it like a business. You have to remember that this will be with you forever. Do your homework and have fun, but always have something to fall back on. I’ve seen a lot of people come and go in this business. You can make a lot of money but you have to give up a lot to be here.
What’s next for Tera Patrick?
Well, I started a clothing line, I’m DJing and I just shot a calendar. I have so much in the works. They say the sky’s the limit. | RDW
