Lonerism

Modular Recordings

Australia is considered Down Under for a reason. Things are backwards there. (I heard the toilets flush backwards!) And so it is with Tame Impala. Their sound is a little off-kilter, albeit fresh and exciting. Indie rock in itself can be a little stale at times – the polite way of saying "please, someone do something new!" So, Lonerism has snuck up on us at just the appropriate moment. Psychedelic rock with an indie twist either ventures too far into jam-band territory, or presents the eager public with something new, inviting and totally out of left field. Tame Impala, with their second proper release, has given unstructured and reverberating stoner rock a new champion with Lonerism.

Worth a Listen: "Elephant"
