It doesn’t get much better than this. When it comes to value, you can’t put a price on a good time and if you don’t know that by now … well, then you might very well be a lost cause. Some of you are well aware that betting your night's entertainment solely on chance can prove to be some kind of wonderful. And this is exactly what was reaffirmed on a recent trip to Token Lounge.
Wonderful doesn’t necessarily always reside just down the street, so take your chances in terms of your travel because we’d be lying if we didn’t stress the fact that your risky trip could be well worth it. “Token Lounge is Westland’s premiere concert club featuring Detroit’s best live entertainment,” states Owner John Anton. Doing it big is their forté and they follow through with live acts ranging from rock and metal to punk and hardcore.
“We’re specifically a live concert venue,” says Anton. “If we don’t have a band then we don’t open.” With a professional concert system for touring acts like Agent Orange and The Exploited, Anton’s goal has always been to provide a venue where acts such as these can perform. “[Token] is like a stepping stone to play at bigger venues,” states Anton. “In the meantime, I want to treat them like this is their home.” Such comfort and good vibes easily rub off on anyone who walks through the doors of the Token Lounge. As a result, when patrons come looking for a good time, the bands deliver nothing short of the best — not because they have to, but because they want to.
This give-and-take relationship between the people and the performers is not only admirable, it's near infamous. Anton’s vision for the Token Lounge has transformed into a successful reality. Its truly matchless atmosphere is one that RDW won’t soon be forgetting. After all, it’s the Token Lounge and, in this case, a token is a golden gift that shines like no other. | RDW
