As for dinner selections, American, Italian, Mexican, Greek and British are all covered there. And if that didn't seem like enough to pick from, they've also got almost 100 sandwiches – everything from a Dinty Moore (a triple-decker corned beef concoction with tomato, lettuce and Russian dressing on toasted challah) to the Stowe Grill (grilled zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, roasted red peppers, melted mozzarella, balsamic dressing plus lettuce on a warm sub roll) and everything in between – to choose from. We personally suggest the Farmer's Market. It's coated with herbed cream cheese, topped with avocado, tomatoes and onions and drizzled with balsamic dressing. And all that stuffing stands second to the cracked whole wheat bread this heavenly sandwich is served on. Thick and chewy, it could easily stand alone, but accompanied by these delicious accoutrements, it rises into the spotlight of sapidity.
One thing you will never have to worry about at Pronto! are stingy portion sizes. This place serves salads you can eat off for days and cookies you'd need a baseball mitt to palm. And those sandwiches are equally enormous.
The Santa Fe chopped salad is also palatable par for the course at Pronto! One of those absolutely enormous salads we previously mentioned, you could probably serve a family with this dish and you'd get no objections in sharing this mixed masterpiece, even from the pickiest of eaters. Tossed with diced mangos, jicama (a Mexican potato of sorts), white beans, tomato, red onion, shredded pepper jack and grilled bits of chicken breast, topped with chili-lime vinaigrette served over greens and tortilla chips, it is a great mix of flavors as well as textures and to put it simply, it's really, really good.
We'd be amiss if you didn't also touch, at least lightly, upon all the amazing desserts that comes out of 608 S. Washington. Not do they only specialize in wedding cakes, and have their own line of packaged pastries called TummyLuv, they're also the purveyors of an in-house bakery full of absolutely massive sweet treats that you could savor for days or, depending on the size of your sweet tooth, devour in one short sitting. They might be well-known for their colossal cookies, but they've also got cheesecake, tortes, chocolate everything and cakes from carrot to cannoli to caramel as well as red velvet, strawberry shortcake and Palmer Pie. We do, however, happen to be very partial to those cookies. | RDW
