More Than Another Mathers

With a multi-platinum sibling, it comes as no surprise that Nate “Nate Kane” Mathers mentions Mike Jones, 50 Cent and other A-listers as potential features on his upcoming album. Although he is working on the follow-up to his previously released demo, Mathers is stuck under the court’s time schedule (this bad boy is still on probation in two cities for separate DUIs he accumulated in 2009). The long arm of the law may keep him from traveling to record with other touring artists, but it won’t keep him away from his second home: the recording booth. No date has been set for his album to drop, but look for something to come out later in 2010.
Mathers is no stranger to the recording process; growing up as Marshall Mathers’ little brother had its perks. Spending many sessions with Em, Mathers says he picked up a lot of pointers on writing. “He’s taught me a lot,” said Mathers. Although there is an obvious Marshall influence in his MC tone on certain tracks, Mathers says the content of the tracks is what sets these brothers apart. Nate Kane is more apt to spit about the club scene and girls and has more of a pop/hip-hop sound while Marshall is well … Eminem.
Mathers has already found some success with his previous single “Slide on Over,” with regular rotation at Detroit’s WKQI. He has spent time on the road, performing at his own shows, as well of those of his older brother, but this will be his first local gig in a bit. We can’t wait to see what he has in store. | RDW
