Mr B's Pub

It would be easy to write off Mr. B's Pub as one of those places that people go to get drunk and hook up. Its prime location on Main Street makes it an ideal candidate for bar crawls or a general meeting place for friends or soon-to-be one-night stands.

Did you know, however, that Mr. B's has just unveiled a brand-new menu and a new summer seasonal menu, too? The new "seasonal favorites" menu has a number of fun appetizers and interesting entrees. Start with the uniquely named Chik Ribs, bone-in chicken thighs basted in BBQ sauce. This may sound odd, but the flavor is totally reminiscent of ribs, hence the clever name.

Looking for something more veggie-friendly? Try the vegetable spring rolls. They're appropriately filled with lots of vegetables like cabbage, shiitake mushrooms and carrots, then deep-fried to crispy perfection.

A couple Mexican favorites are also on the seasonal menu. Classic BBQ and traditional BBQ come together in the pulled pork tacos. Pulled pork and chorizo are nestled up in corn and flour tortillas for some hot pork-on-pork action. Topped with fresh Napa cabbage slaw and pico de gallo, these tacos are smoky and peppery with just the right balance of bright, crunchy veggies to perk up your taste buds.

Speaking of tacos, the new regular menu has really tasty Baja fish tacos in the "South of the Border" section. Sauteed mahi-mahi is tender and flavorful. The same Napa cabbage slaw and pico de gallo are on top of these tacos, offering the same brightness they bring to the pork tacos.

Mr. B's new menu is organized into easy-to-navigate sections, like the aforementioned "South of the Border," "Startin' Out" and "Kid's Korner." The menu is also quite large, with plenty of choices to keep almost anyone happy. There are even some vegetarian options, too.

Whether you're looking for burgers, fajitas, a chicken sandwich or even pizza, Mr. B's has you covered – and then some. There's nothing ordinary about their menu. Even seemingly traditional items are ratcheted up by using fresh ingredients and careful preparation. Add to that formula a large selection of beers and a full bar, and you have a pretty awesome night on the town in Royal Oak.

Happy Hour is also an exciting time at Mr. B's. Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., appetizers and pizzas are all half off and there are plenty of drink specials to go along with those excellent food specials.

If nothing else, Mr. B's is a really fun place to hang out with plenty to do including pool tables, Golden Tee and other sports bar activities. Their menu reflects this, too, with plenty of dishes perfect for sharing. Appetizer platters, XXL pizzas and more are ideal for groups. And that's the key to Mr. B's: it's a place for friends to meet up, share some good food, drink for a while, and have fun. What's better than that? | RDW
