10 Years of Ass N Titties

I don’t know about you, but the fact that the ten-year anniversary of DJ Assault’s club orgy anthem, one that’d prove to be Caligula’s definite fave if he were alive in our hedonistic years, makes me feel a little old, but beautifully nostalgic. I was 16 when I first heard it — it became part of my youth immediately.

DJ Assault is travelin’ from Detroit to Atlanta to the four corners of the world on the back of his ass shaking, breast bouncin’ banger, but he’s gonna be home this Saturday to help celebrate the ten- year mark of "Ass N Titties." RDW caught up with Assault to talk about the track and other perfect combinations.

It’s been ten years, you’ve had enough time to think about this question, I’m sure. Which do you prefer, ass or titties?
(Laughs). Man, I like ‘em as a package deal, a combo. That’s really how I’ve always thought about it.

But if it came down to it, which one holds more weight, so to speak?
(Laughs). Well, when you put it that way, I'd definitely have to go with ass.

When and where did you last see an amazing ass?
I can definitely tell you that, it was this past weekend I saw one. It was an      amazing ass …

Who was the first person to hear the song after you completed it?
I was performing it live in the club way before I produced it as a real song. The first time I spun it was probably on a Friday night party at The Grand Corner on West Grand Blvd. I used to spin there and test out material there, too.

What were the early reactions to the track?
It was pretty much an immediate hit, man. I thought it was kinda silly and stupid, but I knew that people would still like it; what I did not know was how much people would really love it.

That said, are you expected to spin it every time you DJ? And if so, is that annoying?
I am expected to play it, that’s true, but it’d be kinda silly not to play it. Annoying? Not really. I mean, it’s ten-years-old, so if people are still wanting to hear it and still wanting me to play it for them, that’s cool with me, man. I get to travel and bring it to people all over the place, it’s been good to me. If you think about it, not too many people in the world make a song that’s still alive ten years after it came out.

Quite true. Has it brought you some good stories? Any freaky shit?
Girls get naked all the time, taunt me with their breasts. It’s so common that it’s not really a story anymore, it’s just what happens.

Who wins the Best Ass N' Titties title, Detroit or Atlanta?
Well, that’s tough, but I’d have to give it to … Atlanta. See, Atlanta is full of all types of people from all over the place. You got ladies from New York and L.A. and Florida and Detroit. There are really just a lot of people from Detroit in L.A., it’s crazy.

We know you love ass and titties, but what are some of your other favorite combos?
I’d say cars and rims would be next, right after ass and titties. Magic and Kareem would be a good one from back in the day. In music, though a lot of people slept on it, the R. Kelly and Usher collaboration on “Same Girl” was pretty sweet. Food-wise, man, I’d have to go with chicken and hot sauce.  | RDW
