Eyes on the ... Rib Eyes

The Penthouse Club Detroit
Eyes on the ... Rib Eyes

A lot of images may pop in your mind when you think of a gentleman’s club. Top notch cuisine may not be the first thought (hot bodies should be your first), but it will be after a visit to the Penthouse Club in Detroit.

Executive Chef Stewart Fox Jr. has been with the Club since its inception, and has strived to build a menu with high-end dishes that will change your mind about what to expect from an adult establishment. The club opened with the idea of making its restaurant as important a feature as the sensual entertainment, a place where a patron can come in for both a feast for the eyes, and their empty stomach.

The Penthouse Club offers a wide range of appetizers, from standard chicken wings and potato skins to unusual offerings like lobster stuffed mushrooms caps topped with a blend of Swiss and Parmigianino cheeses, Asian style dumplings stuffed with pork and vegetables served with an eel glaze and peanut sauce, to a lobster cocktail (that's first broiled, then sautéed), accompanied by drawn butter and fresh fruit.

Entrees on the menu cover the steaks you  might expect to see, but are nothing like run-of-the-mill entrees. Penthouse offers the highest quality available and each piece of meat comes in generous sizes ranging from seven ounces of filet mignon to a 14-ounce boneless rib eye. All are top-of-the-line, barrel cut with two-inch widths.

What you might not be expecting, but will find, are lamb chops (in a zip sauce sweetened with honey) or a broiled salmon dish. You could also try the chicken marsala or tetrazzini. Those watching their figures as much as they're watching the dancers have tasty options to choose from on the Lo-Cal portion of the menu, with items like lo-cal shrimp, fruit and New York strip. Groups can order from the Platter menu and try a little bit of everything such as steak bits, lamb chops, calamari, wings, jumbo shrimp cocktail, coconut shrimp, chicken strips and more.

The kitchen runs daily specials and offers a homemade soup of the day, such as minestrone, oriental beef or cheese tortellini. A knowledgeable wait staff is ready to answer any questions you may have, and a fully stocked bar is there to wet your whistle. The entire menu is available at all hours (from opening until closing), with carry-out service available.

Oh, did we mention the dessert? Chocolate Cake drizzled with powdered dark and white chocolate syrup and sprinkled with powdered sugar ... Mmm! And, of course, no one can ignore the beautiful entertainment. Beautiful women, beautiful environment, beautiful meals —  everything here seems to be done with passion.

The Penthouse Club in Detroit is trying to change your mind about what a gentleman’s club should be — high quality, tasty food with high quality entertainment. Every so often, that really is what life is all about.  | RDW
