Having recently undergone significant renovations, the Bosco in Ferndale has certainly earned its newfound rep as the best decorated bar in town. Outfitted in backlit dark wood paneling, wooden booths and three-dimensional birch tree trunk walls, there's no other place quite like it. We particularly love – and we're betting you do too – the grassy ceilings and the fantastic new lighting. With a new martini menu as well as a great wine selection, the Bosco also offers live music every Friday and Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. Looking for something a little more exciting? Check out their High Energy Lounge every weekend after 11:30 p.m.
Best Country Night Coyote Joe'sConsidering this place is pretty much country themed, it's no wonder they have the best weekly hootenanny around. Featuring free mechanical bull rides and plenty of line dancing, you can bet the best of country music is always blasting throughout this Shelby Township bar. Don't just expect one day of the week to be great at this place either, with Free Party Fridays and Bachelorette party packages available for Saturdays, there's plenty to entertain and delight all weekend. at Coyote Joes
Best Dance Club Luna
Whether you go there to dance yourself or just to watch their girls, Luna is the best place in town to see some jiggle going down. Enjoy electro-pop, retro dance and themed dance nights featuring the infamous Luna dancers (in skimpy costumes, as you might imagine). On Sundays don't miss the Killer Flamingos, Detroit's most popular cover band. And drinks are always dirt cheap, meaning you'll be all loosened up and ready to dance all night in no time.
Best Pub Hamlin Pub
Hamlin Pub isn't just your run-of-the-mill chain of pubs. And, yes, while they have several locations in metro Detroit, you'll never go into one feeling like you're hitting up a lame neighborhood Applebee's. Outfitted with gorgeous décor and home to plenty of specials on both food and drink, you'll always feel like you're stopping into your favorite corner bar when taking a seat at any of their seven locations. In the mood for something new? Check out the newest addition to their empire of pubs. Hamlin Corner in Royal Oak is set to open soon, becoming one of the newest hot spots in the downtown nightlife mecca.
Best Pub To Have Opened In The Past Year Tilted Kilt
Do you like girls, beer and sports? Then you will like the Tilted Kilt. Because it is full of girls, beer and sports. The girls are dressed in tartan plaid miniskirts, the beer is on tap to the power of thirty and the sports are on their many flatscreen TVs located throughout the bar. This United Kingdom-themed pub (with a loose mix of British, Irish and Scottish influence) definitely appeals to the guys, but that isn't to say that the ladies won't also enjoy themselves (the male staff also don kilts, after all). The food is hearty comfort food and there is a wide selection of craft and imported beer, all in a comfortable setting with plenty of eye candy for all.
Best Bar On St. Patrick's Day Old Shillelagh
The Old Shillelagh claims to have the world's largest St. Paddy's Day party, and while that title hasn't been officially ordained by the Guinness Book of World Records, they sure as shit go through a lot of Guinness. Last year about 10,000 people came through the joint for their annual St. Patrick's Day party, sucking down shots of Jamesons, Irish car bombs, pints of Guinness and authentic Irish corned beef sandwiches. Doors open at 7 a.m. and the party stays strong all day.
Best VIP Area Bleu
As you may already know, Bleu is the best of the best when it comes to Detroit's EDM hot spots. Constantly serving up the world's hottest DJs to rabid fans, this downtown nightclub is also downright beautiful. And what makes the atmosphere so worthy of note? At least one reason is this club's flair for VIP treatment. There isn't just ONE VIP section, there are THREE, and you don't just get bottle service, but also a private top-shelf bar when you visit Bleu's second-floor VIP section that overlooks the entire venue. Want to be closer to the action? Rest and drink up in Bleu's two dance floor-adjacent VIP sections, where you'll be waited on by the most professional and beautiful of their wait staff.
Best Bar on a Friday Night Elektricity
For a night you won't regret, check out the phenomenon known as Elecktricity. This nightclub features the best of electronic music along with bright lights and dancers to get the party going. There's an event or artist performing every week, so there's always a reason to make this your go-to spot. Not only is Elecktricity a great place to go dancing, but it's also a great bar experience with three bars and awesome bartenders. If you want a VIP feel, get a booth and have access to the side stage and receive special service. To avoid waiting in line, get there early. This place is always jumping.
Best Dive Bar Painted Lady
Everyone loves a dive bar. Whether it's for the cheap drinks, the great beer selection or the crowd of non-yuppies, they're pretty much known to be the best place to drink outside of your living room. Luckily, the dive bars in metro Detroit are many and of those many, there must be a best. Painted Lady has earned its place topping the list of the best down-and-dirty drinking establishments by constantly providing us with Polish beer, great live shows and plenty of that Hamtramck atmosphere we love.
Best Martini Bar Centaur
Detroit's first true martini bar was Centaur, and it's still the best. Owner Sean Harrington has built up his little block of Foxtown over the years (with the Town Pump and Hot Taco flanking either side of Centaur), and this corner offers something for everyone – whether it's Tigers fans popping in for a drink before or after a game or theatre-goers looking for an upscale atmosphere to nosh after a show. Centaur draws in a bit of both, easily making it one of Detroit's most diverse bar scenes. From the grown and sexy crowd to the loyal baseball fans, there's always a good mix inside Centaur's three floors of fun. With dozens of martinis on their menu (only $5 during happy hour!) and an excellent selection of small plates stylishly served in towers until 2 a.m. daily, Centaur accommodates all of our dining and drinking desires.
Best Looking Wait Staff [Female] O'Toole's Royal Oak
There are many reasons why we love O'Toole's. Whether it's their great burgers, steaks, wings or beer, this place located smack dab in the middle of Royal Oak is also just a great place to take a seat and people watch. With huge windows, a great patio area and tons of flatscreen TVs, there's always something to entertain inside this Irish pub. And although those things we've just mentioned are certainly noteworthy, the most important thing to mention is the beautiful staff that tend to the pub's patrons. Without a single homely young lady in sight, the sexy servers of O'Toole's come to you with a complementary smile that makes them all the more beautiful. Attentive and visually perfect, their loveliness is only doubled by the great service they provide. There's a reason our readers voted them the most beautiful bar maids in all the land and it is with great pride we bestow this honor upon O'Toole's stunning staff.
Best Bartender [Female] Brie Clark
Brie Clark isn't just your regular bartender. Having been working behind the bar for the past eight years, Bleu's beautiful young server of beer and booze is an artist. With a ton of personal flair and a whole lot of style, she's been at Bleu for two years and has loved every second of it. Ms. Clark also makes sure there's never a wait for those beckoning her for a drink. She loves working at Bleu not only because it's one of the best venues in town, but also because she can dance to the music of her favorite EDM artists all night long.
Best Drink Prices Renshaw
Located in the scenic community of Clawson, Renshaw is one of OUR favorite places to get a cheap drink, so we weren't at all surprised when our readers agreed they had the best drink prices around. Home to daily specials like $2 22-ounce drafts of Labatt Blue and Coors light, they've also got a beer list even the haughtiest of craft brew snobs couldn't turn their nose up to. With local brews from New Holland Brewing, Arcadia, Rochester Mills, MIP, Frankenmuth Brewing and many more, they also have exotic brews from around the world. Our favorite? St. Bernardus ABT 12, a 10.5% ABV abbey brown ale brewed by monks in Belgium. Not only is it only $6 a pop, but you also won't find this beer anywhere else
Best EDM Promotor React Detroit
As ever, the electronic music scene in Detroit is one that cities around the world envy. And that's at least partially due to the amazing promoters we have working their butts off day and night. React Detroit is at the tippy top of that list, constantly booking the best acts around. From Borgore to Krewella and many more, partners Jason Wakefield and Nick Aldon and their devoted team have been bringing EDM lovers the best of the best at venues like the Majestic Complex, Royal Oak Music Theatre, Elektricity, The Crofoot and many, many more of our area favorites.
Best New Bar Concept - Imperial
We love the tacos, the salsas, the hot dogs and the Sunday brunch. We also love the selection of whiskeys, bourbons and tequilas. We love the outdoor patio in the back and the garage doors that open to Woodward in the summer. We love the warm respite from frigid temps and the libations that warm us on the inside in the winter. We love the tattooey staff and the tattooey patrons. We love the L.A. style with the Detroit attitude. In short, we fucking love this place.
Best Bar To Have Opened In The Past Year Clubhouse Bfd
DRAFT magazine just listed Clubhouse BFD among the nation's top 100 beer bars. If that isn't enough to convince you of how awesome this place is ... well, that's just stupid. Clubhouse BFD is not just a beer bar. It is a juried gallery exhibit of the brewing arts. With 40 taps and another 150-plus bottles, including some rare birds for VIBFDBD (Very Important BFD Beer Drinkers), Clubhouse is setting a whole new standard for area beer bars. And because all that beer needs a good basecoat, they've also got a stellar menu of beer-soaking comfort food (try the mac and cheese, for real).
Best Dance Club To Have Opened In The Past Year - Level Two
The hottest new dance club to open in the last year is the aptly-named Level Two, located literally on the second level above Plaka Café in Greektown, and it's so new that it's still got that new club smell. Level Two is an indoor/outdoor sports bar-meets-nightclub restaurant/martini lounge with a second-story patio overlooking the city. And Detroiters can get drunk on a discount.
Best Bar To Visit Any Day of the Week Rock On Third
The Rock on Third is one of Royal Oak's long-time go-to no-frills chill spots. This isn't so much for the designer jeans and designer T-shirt crowd as it is the regular old jeans and regular old T-shirt crowd. The outdoor patio is a great place to hang out in the summer, but the best thing about the Rock is their excellent beer list featuring craft beers from around the world and right here in Michigan, with a great selection of bar food (burgers, pizzas) to complement it. Oh yes, you can smell what the Rock is cooking.
Best Bartender [Male Travis Fourmont
Considering he was just named best bartender in the country by Woodford Reserve, we would be remiss to not name Travis Fourmont of Michael Symon's Roast Best Male Bartender. To recap: Woodford Reserve (makers of fine Kentucky bourbon) held a nation-wide contest to find the mixer of the best Manhattan in the country. Finalists went on to Manhattan to compete. Our boy Travis won the local round, making it to the semifinals, then was voted into the finals and went on to best his competition with THE BEST MANHATTAN IN THE COUNTRY. Take that, every other bartender in America! Plus, Roast is awesome.
Best Wait Staff - Hooters
What do you mean, they're not just being nice to us because they really like us?? Well we like THEM, that's for sure. Besides, everyone knows that we all just go there for the wings. Order up a beer and some hot wings slathered in their signature sauces; all the extra smiles and jiggles are free. That's value!
Best Sports Bar - Rosie O'Gradys
There is a minimum of six TV screens visible from every single angle no matter where you are in this bar. We're not sure how this is so, but there must surely be some sort of Euclidean geometry involved. Oh, not sitting at the bar but in a booth instead? No problem, THERE'S EVEN A TV AT EACH OF THE BOOTHS. This makes Rosie's ideal for sports fans, because it is an actual physical impossibility to ever miss a game here.
Best Bar For Lunch CJ Mahoneys [Troy]
Home to daily dining specials as well as an absolutely enormous menu, we fully endorse your pick for the best place to grab lunch. Aside from all that, they also provide concierge services to those working in the burgeoning film industry in Detroit. It's also an exceptionally chic rooftop indoor/outdoor bar complete with firepits, overhead heat lamps, limestone columns and ultra-mod patio furniture. This English-style pub also has 36 beers on tap, many from across the pond as well as right here in the Great Lakes.
Best Bar at Last Call - Woody's [Royal Oak]
When you're bar-hopping throughout downtown Royal Oak, the best place to end your night is Woody's Diner. Which isn't a diner in the traditional sense – it's a bar, and a popular bar, especially on the weekends. They have a ton of food so the "diner" part is no joke, but they've also got a ton of drink specials and host a ton of special events. No matter where your night takes you, let it land you here for your final beer.

It's the type of place you can go to if you're looking for a place with a genuinely friendly atmosphere.
Best Wine Bar - Motor City Wine
There's plenty to love about Motor City Wine. First: an excellent selection of affordable boutique wines (though that sounds too cutesy – think small-production instead of mass-marketed major labels). Second: this wine shop also doubles as a bar, where you can order by the glass or bottle along with a cheese and charcuterie plate. But wait, there's more! This wine shop also triples as a live music venue, with some of the top names in Detroit's Jazz and DJ scenes playing weekly.

Best Selection of Irish Whiskeys - Pat O'Brien's
A lot can be said about a man by what he orders at the bar. Ordering an "appletini, light on the tini" will not win over that stunning brunette a few seats over. But a man who knows his whiskey, is just that – a man. Pat O'Brien's in St. Clair Shores is the place to develop that palate. With over a dozen different Irish whiskeys, Pat O'Brien's is worth frequenting solely for the libations. Best Bar Patio - Madison's
There has been an influx of great bar patios recently. Some with great atmospheres, others with cool attractions. Madison's Pub in Mt. Clemens just happens to have an abundance of both. Sleek and modern, the young bar has already set the standard in Mt. Clemens' burgeoning bar scene and the patio is at the center of that. Madison's patio features an enormous fire pit that extends summertime parties. And if there's one thing about Michigan summers, it's that it needs to be extended. Fortunately for us, Madison's is here and solidifying a killer spot on the Eastside.
Best Bar To Feel Like A Regular - Limelight
Cheers theme song. Soak it up. It's in your head, we know. And every time you go to Limelight Sports Pub & Grill in Warren, that good ol' tune should get firmly planted in your frontal cortex (or wherever music gets stuck). Limelight's friendly atmosphere is enough to make you come back again and again, but if you like eating or drinking good things, then you might want to get ready for a new favorite spot. In a city filled with restaurants that might feel a bit stuffy, Luxe's charming atmosphere and excellent burgers are enough to make anyone feel welcome.

Best Arcade - Dave & Buster's
We have a soft spot for good arcade games. If there is a Buck Hunter in a 20-mile radius, we've played it. And if there's an arcade where we want "RDW" topping the leader board, it's Dave & Buster's. The arcade-for-grown-ups features some of the most varied games one could find. From trivia to horse racing, the Utica arcade is a bastion of fun. Great for parties or just a night out with a friend, Dave & Buster's serves up food, drinks and classic arcade fun.
