The Collective

With her newest album, Morissette exposes a mellow, mature progression. No longer are the unnerving feminist rock-pop songs from her early days. The album seems to have let go of the confused anger as it lends a calming guidance of lyrics that she has gained with experience. This album seems to push a connection with the listener in a different way, urging us to just understand and be empathetic. The album begins and ends with her strongest numbers—"Guardian" and "Edge of Evolution"—and everything else in between is murky contemplation. While we can appreciate where her mind has gone, we still miss the "head over feet" feeling she once evoked.

Worth a Listen: "Edge of Evolution"
