I can't believe he asked you to have his kids; that's crazy. But I guess it's because there are too many women who don't really have much respect for themselves and jump into bed with a man right away. To some it's considered an investment to have a baby with a man so they can get child support. I know it sounds pathetic but there are women who do it.

The fact that he asked you out on a second date shows that he's interested in you; but doing it via a text message makes you wonder how serious he is about dating you or getting to know you. I find texting very impersonal, unless you're sending simple messages like "I'm running late or I'm in a meeting." Also I've learned over the last few years that men who are married or living with someone use texts so their partners don't hear their conversation. May be you should ask him if he's involved with someone and also let him know that talking on the phone is a little more intimate than texting; that's if you go out with him again. Look forward to reading more of your stories.
