Chase Bar and Grill Chasing Westside Dreams
Anyone who’s anyone has to start somewhere, and for owner Dave Bastianelli, that place was Chase — the chillest Italian restaurant in Santa Barbara. Although Bastianelli possibly never envisioned the success that lies at his fingertips today, he stands as proud owner of a Northville hotspot; living proof that dreams can become a profound reality. “We built Chase from scratch to please the people,” says Bastianelli. “It’s the most comfortable place you can be at when you’re at a bar, and we actually went so far as to ask girls off the streets if they would feel comfortable inside.” The best part — those very opinions were taken to heart. Never heard that before, have you, ladies?
With that being said, Chase is definitely one-of-a-kind. Yeah, there’s a plethora of sports memorabilia and, of course, a million tubes, but the aspect that makes Chase so real is the ambiance. “Chase is a cool and casual bar,” states Bastianelli. “We mix sports, music and much more into one great place to hang out.” Diversity is predominant — it’s endearing to witness punk rockers partying at one table directly next to clean cutters at another. It’s inevitable for patrons to feed off these great vibes and the acoustic set merely added to their pleasures. Robin Horlock had the ladies swooning, the boys mellowing out and RDW chillaxin’ to everything from Oasis to Led Zeppelin.
Now that summer is in full swing, so is the patio. Limitless tables outside shaded patrons with their tiki umbrellas. And what’s better than completing that paradise for the boys with two 32” plasma screen TVs? That’s right, gentlemen. Sports and sunshine — how’s that for service?
Bastianelli didn’t just bring a touch of the Westside to the area, but a whole new perspective, a vivid dream, or better yet, a uniqueness Detroit has yet to experience. Real Detroit says bring it on — we’re ready! | RDW
