DIY: Perfect Summer Martini
All Mixed Up
Aphrodite: An ode to the Goddess of Love; or as Sean Harrington, owner of Centaur Bar in downtown Detroit, called it, “An ode to the Goddess of Summer flings,” was our pick for the best summer martini. Centaur Bar, located behind the Fox Theatre, is known for their diverse and succulent variety of Martinis (13 in all). With Harrington’s help, I found the paramount summer martini; one that you can imagine sipping while relaxing poolside under the cabana. According to Harrington, it’s “the fresh raspberries and lemons that make this (drink) perfect.” Mix up this refresher out on the patio — or stroll down to Centaur and order it yourself from one of their lovely staff members. | RDW

Heaven In A Glass:
Aphrodite
5 freshly mottled raspberries
1 1/2 ounces of Smirnoff Vodka
1 ounce of Triple Sec
2 freshly squeezed lemon wedges
1/2 ounce of Chambord
Shake ingredients together and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries and the twist of a lemon peel.
